Reading with Monty is operated by Heligotech Pty Ltd (ABN 63 686 085 978), trading as Reading with Monty (“Reading with Monty”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

We respect your privacy and are committed to handling personal information responsibly. This Privacy Policy explains the kinds of personal information we may collect through the Reading with Monty app, website and communications with us, and how we use and protect that information.

We handle personal information in accordance with applicable Australian privacy law, including the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), where applicable.

Information we collect

Reading with Monty is designed to collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide and support the service.

Information associated with use of the app may include:

a child's first name;
information used to connect the parent/instructor device with the child device;
information about progress through the app, such as levels, activities and learning progress; and
technical information necessary for the operation, security and maintenance of the app.

If you contact us, including by email or through a feedback function, we may also collect the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, message and any other information contained in your correspondence.

Our website may also collect technical information ordinarily collected by websites and their service providers, such as device, browser and website usage information.

Purchases and subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment information is handled by the relevant app store rather than directly by Reading with Monty. We may receive information from those platforms relating to subscription status and transactions where necessary to provide or support the service.

Children's information

Reading with Monty is designed for children to use with the involvement of a parent, guardian or other responsible adult.

We aim to minimise the personal information collected about children. The app does not require a child's full name, address, telephone number or email address for ordinary use.

A parent, guardian or other authorised adult should only provide a child's information where they have authority to do so.

Why we collect information

We may use information to:

provide and operate Reading with Monty;
connect the parent/instructor and child devices;
record and maintain progress through learning activities;
respond to questions, feedback and support requests;
administer subscriptions and troubleshoot technical issues;
maintain, secure and improve the app and website; and
comply with legal obligations.

We will not sell children's personal information or other personal information collected through Reading with Monty.

Third-party services

We use third-party services to operate and distribute Reading with Monty and our website. These include services provided by Apple, Google and Wix.

These providers may collect or process information in accordance with their own privacy policies when you use their services.

We may also use technical service providers involved in hosting, infrastructure, app operation, security or support. We only disclose personal information where reasonably necessary to provide or support the service, where you have consented, or where disclosure is required or authorised by law.

Some third-party service providers may store or process information outside Australia. The countries involved may vary according to the infrastructure used by those providers. We will update this Privacy Policy where appropriate as our service-provider arrangements change.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach, we will respond in accordance with our legal obligations.

Because Reading with Monty intentionally limits identifying information within the app, in some circumstances we may not be able to reliably connect particular app data with an identifiable person. If this prevents us from fulfilling a request, we will explain that to you.

Marketing

If you choose to provide your contact details for marketing communications, you may unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe facility provided or by contacting us.

We do not use children's personal information for direct marketing.
